The Pearl District

Cobblestone streets and converted warehouses hint at the Pearl District’s industrial past, but award-winning brewers, baristas, and chefs have carved out their shops between the evergreens and fountains making this upscale neighborhood a trendsetter in urban living.
Residents of the Pearl are a short walk or a couple streetcar stops away from Slabtown, NW 23rd, Old Town, Downtown, and the Columbia River waterfront. My personal favorite activities in the Pearl District include grabbing a coffee at Barista, a bite to eat at Portland’s oldest brewery, Bridgeport Brewing, wandering through the numerous art galleries at “First Thursday” or browsing books at the infamous Powell’s City of Books.
